I've had a 500 cc Polaris Ranger since 2012. It has been pretty much "bullet proof" reliable. The UTV's are much bigger, heavier machines than an ATV so that might be a consideration if you are trailering it and hauling it a lot.
I also have a 400 cc Honda that I haul back and fourth hunting out of state on a small trailer. It will get in tighter places, doesn't get stuck as easily, loads, unloads and trailers easy, but still adequate for hauling out a deer, setting stands, hauling a couple guys, etc. ATV's are also much less $$ than a UTV.

Ranger for a ride x side. I have an 800 crew and a 500. Use them every weekend hog hunting. They are very capable machines. Honda for a four wheeler. Not much load capacity but they are bullet proof. On the side x side I wouldn't recommend a crew unless you need the room. It's like trying to maneuver a stretch limo in the woods.
