Today I finally got the mole that has been tearing up my yard. I had a few minutes to kill waiting on some deer heads to cook so I stood real still in the middle of his tunnels. After a while I saw the ground moving in front of me. I took a big jump and landed on that spot with both feet. Then I dug him out with my hands. It was a big one. He sure has done a lot of damage. My puppy has been trying to dig him up. I let her see what she was after.

They are tearing things up here now that it got warmer. Making a mess of the yards.

Need a better dog. I got a beagle you can borrow. She'll get everyone there. Now mind you she ain't smart enough to listen to where the mole is and start digging. No she starts at the beginning of the tunnel and excavates it to the end but she'll get em. She had some holes she literally climbs into and all you see the tip of her tail. Drawback, if you used a tractor or riding lawnmower it feels like you're running the Baja 500.

I have a mole trap but my father in law borrowed it a year ago and I haven't seen it since. I usually have better luck catching them by hand.

I will run 2-3 traps pretty much all summer. Between work and hunting I haven't seen my backyard during daylight recently and was pretty surprised to see 4-5 huge mole hills when I was out there with a flashlight earlier this week. I got one last summer by waiting him out like the OP but typically I will notice my cat staring at the ground and if I'm lucky I can sneak out there and get them.

You guys are the exact reason we don't have moles in Indiana. Just because the state says you can kill all you want don't mean you have to. If it's a female you killed a baby cause you killed it after October.

You should have given it another couple years to reach full potential...

My old neighbors, ex cousin in law who works at the nsa said he overheard the folks at dnr talking about releasing more badger to keep mole populations in check.

You need a mole eliminator trap. I have killed 75 in the last 18 months with that trap and my pitch fork.

My catahoula used to keep them thinned out pretty good. I don't know for sure if she heard them or smelled them or what. She would walk around the yd surveying the situation and then start digging. Might take her an hour to complete the excavation but at the end you had a dead mole and a hole you could fit a small car in. Ha.
