Was fortunate to take this buck tonight at my parents in Dearborn county. A south wind is perfect for their place as we catch deer coming into out property out of a huge cedar thicket from the south. Knowing we had a south wind I made the kids stay home hoping to catch a buck cruising for does. This year we've had at least 4 bucks scoring over 150" on camera. I'd be lying if I said I didn't want one of them, but in reality I just wanted to harvest a mature animal. It was pretty uneventful until I heard a deer walking in the cedars about 515 or so. A few minutes later I seen a flicker of white on the edge of the cedars and then seen his left side of his rack as he walked over the hill. I hit my can call one time and then wondered where he went. I'm assuming he was just inside the cedars and my call got him to come out. Next thing I know he's destroying a sapling at about 50 yards. Once I realized he was a shooter I had to lean out the right side of my stand to shoot him. Quartering to me facing up hill about 45 or 50 yards. At the shot he took off over the hill. I lost sight of him and heard crashing 2 times. No blood at the site of the shot, so I went to the house and got dad. We went to where I lost sight of him and found him about 20 yards farther. No blood trail at all. I took out both lungs and clipped the liver. The Accutips shoot great out of my gun, but performance can be questionable. Hardly any blood trails. ![](http://i.imgur.com/mPvPb67.jpg) ![](http://i.imgur.com/Piof8gq.jpg) ![](http://i.imgur.com/C8P4iAS.jpg)

Greetings Yes ukwil I had that for three seasons, shoot no reaction, no blood. Send Bailey and follow and somewhere from a hundred yards to a mile I would find a dead as deer. It's,not good, like me a change of ammo needed I think. On one extreme we had deaddeer, who's deer dropped but front end was ruined, and ours, that are hit but one would not think so. I have had this discussion numerous times with my friend. It's all about choices, me I want them to drop, I would rather have half a carcass than Chase one miles and perhaps lose it. My friend wants no damage. There is a bullet out there that will do both adequately, I think I have found mine for work. Private use, I use amax bit of damage but I pick every deer. In built up area I use v max and accept the damage as I want the bullet either not to exit or be almost done as it exits. That was my decision. Billy
