The Savage brotherhood will be out in force on Saturday. Four in Indiana and one in Wisconsin. It will take a tornado to keep us home on the gun opener.

Yep; brush guns are pretty much a myth if it's going to upset a bullet it doesn't matter what the round is. Okay maybe 16" shell out of the Mighty Mo might get on through!

There are definitely spots that a rifle offers no real advantage over a shotgun. I'll agree with that. However, I've yet to encounter a deer hunting situation where a shotgun would be superior to a rifle.
Maybe if you were hunting with dogs down south and allowed to use buckshot..

I doubt when the term "brush gun" was coined, it was meant to be it would shoot thru brush. Common sense would apply it is referring to dense cover, shorter range hunting, such as eastern half of the country, as compared to out west. Just my opinion. Always fun to listen to this type of conversation. Lol.

I believe that name brush gun came from up north or AK most guides caryed a short barrel shot gun for safety in cased what every there clients shoot did not die or charged. About like a sawed off shotgun it was easy to carry and did not catch every branch in the bush
