How much rain is in forecast. Have not seen that yet? I got a creek to cross and that maybe an issue.

I got a nature preserve reduction hunt Saturday. Trying to come up with some type of weatherproof method of hunting. No groundblinds allowed!

I will be out either in a blind or in the old (4ft diameter) oak tree. I know that one won't sway in the wind. I saw it lowered a little 15-25, gusts up to 35 removed. Hope the winds drop some more. Under 15 I hope. My 1st buck back in 1985 was in a hard rain and typical wind I guess around 15 mph. We called that year the monsoon year. Rained hard Saturday and Sunday. Warm -60's
just remembered. That year my friend ran off the road the tipped over his jeep. It was dark and very hard ran driving from my parents farm to my brothers/friend farm. It was about a 5 mile drive. We tipped it back and off we went. That was one of my favorite hunts. I had two weeks off and nothing to worry about or care about. Had my deer opening morning. Two weeks to party.

I have a blind with plexi-glass windows I'll utilize during the rain. If it's too bad I'll go in the house for awhile.

100% chance of rain and 20-30mph winds with possible thunder (lightning). I have hunted many rainy days and windy days with no luck. With both rain and high winds together, I will pass. Knowing that this weather is coming I will be out Friday all day. Skip Saturday and back out hunting Sunday morning.

I built two box blinds years ago when my father was alive and couldn't take the cold. They both have heaters and sliding windows, thats where I'll be.

The forecast is changing my plans a bit....I'll be in the blind instead of being up in a tree.

I took a vacation day for Saturday. Forecast is showing rain and 15-25 mph winds. I think I'll wait to get that last doe and use my vacation day for something else.

We have always noticed a large drop off of deer movement after opening day but I think Sunday will be the BIG day after the front moves through. These deer are not going to see as much gun pressure I think and Sunday should gold. Maybe even Sat evening if it slows down.

Now is when the new shadow hunter blinds will pay off. Extreme weather no problem. BUT the deer will have to move. Taking a lunch. All day sit.

I for one am staying out of the woods Saturday Southeast Indiana got hit really hard with EAB . The Ash Trees are Really Dropping . I would suggest all stay out of the woods .not worth the risk A Deer for your Life .I doubt if very many realize the severity of the problem It’s Bad I’ll be surprised if there are no injuries due to the ASH

North central part of the state here and the forecast now calls for a 90 percent chance of showers for most of the day. Earlier in the week the forecast was 30 percent. It only has the winds at 10-15 with gusts over 20 though, not seeing any of the 40 and 50 mph stuff here so far.

Our property is covered with dead ash trees. They are starting to fall. I'm sure we will lose a few on Saturday.

WAVE 3 from Louisville just claimed 100% chance of rain. 25-30 mph sustained winds, up to 50 mph gusts. It will be hard to chase myself out of the house. If not absolutely pouring in the morning, I may head out for awhile and see if some other guys were foolish enough to do the same and stirred em' up.

I can't bring myself to miss opening morning, especially with all the chasing going on around my house. With the tornado 10 days ago going through the farm I'll be hunting, I doubt any dead ash trees are standing, especially with huge, healthy oak trees being toppled. I just know a big buck will happen by if I sleep in. Lol!
A WSW wind will be perfect, and I can hunt low on the east side of a north-south ridge to hopefully stay out of any high winds. I'm more worried about staying dry.
