So this is where I hunt. These are all stands I was going to hunt the stand in the corner tomorrow this is the scent path my scent will go for tomorrows hunt. The field to the north is corn were they most likely to come from but they also bed the south end of the woods. I know I should hunt the corner stand, but I feel like I should really hunt the back middle stand "gut feeling". I normally walk the right field which is a harvested bean field to get to the corner stand undetected. I been using earth scent wafers an so far I'm impressed the doe I shot should of winded me but did not. Do you ever hunt in "not the best for the wind stand"

I would not hunt that "back middle stand" with that wind. Too wide of an area to blow your scent with the WNW wind. Hunt the corner or possibly the stand to the south, if the deer walk on the west side of it, and you can access it from the east.

You're going in in the afternoon so you're expecting deer to be in the woods at that time. Your scent is blowing away from the deer as well as your approach being down wind I'd say you're good to go. Good luck. What county?

If you are trying to kill a decent mature buck, always hunt the wind. That stand in the NE corner is the correct choice. That westernmost stand should be hunted with a south wind or a northeast wind that blows out over the lake in my opinion. Approach from north would disturb the least.

I didn't go out tonight because the wind would blow my scent over the NE corner of the food plot behind the house, and the same with the other property I hunt. There is another stand further in the woods, but the trail cam shows no deer moving there except after legal shooting light. So, I didn't hunt tonight. Maybe in the morning for an hour or so.

I will only not hunt the wind if truly slipping in deep into bedding during peak breeding where they truly will and have come from any direction. I don't do this more than once or twice a year though....and often never.

Always hunt the wind with regard to your primary target. However, it seems like in this dang hill country your stink will always be cancelling one direction as the buggers can come from anywhere. I just hunt it as best I can and don't worry about the other way, or I'd never hunt.
