In the land of little trees on my place a cottonwood is often the only tree available for a stand... problem is I stick out like a sore thumb. I decided to use today's warm weather to play around with solving that problem instead of hunting. I hung a new stand in the only tree that would work and then headed to Lowe's for some PVC pipe and built some branch holders. I think it worked out well. Went from this To this

Stand is 16' to the platform and is off in a nook off a food plot. I took the weed eater and cleared a quiet path through the woods parallel to the plot so I can hopefully slip in and out without too much disruption.

I've got a spot like that, I was just going to zip tie some limbs on it. I like your idea though, I have some scrap PVC I may use to do something similar.

I used 1.5" pipe and bought a 3 pipe "Y" ... Made 3 individual holders. As always, now that I've seen them in action I'll modify any future builds slightly but these work well. I used 2 ratchet straps to secure them but going forward I'll just run a small lag bolt through them to attach them to the tree.

I have loops and strings tied and dangling all over my tree stand. Add a few every year or when ever there are odds or ends of baling twine, jute or what ever camo colors. If any thing gets cut off climbing the tree I always add it to the stand somewhere sticking it in those loops.

One of the best ways to make a deer stand disappear is to leave it unchained on public land.

Nice work. What kind of limbs did you use? I've used maple limbs before. After they dried out the leaves would rattle in the wind and drive me crazy. I like to use cedar or juniper limbs now. They are a lot quieter and have a stronger natural smell.

Maple mostly but my options through there are limited. Depending on how the leaves hold on I might cut some burlap strips and attach them to the branches.

Love this...been running options through my head to do similar...zip tie approach just isn't working like I'd like. I have two spare old christmas trees and would love to use those branches moving forward....you just gave me an idea!

Great idea I will definitely use this. The property I hunt has a lot of nice straight trees to use my climber or hang a stand but a very high canopy and little cover on treestand level.

That looks great, thank you for sharing! Just curious, did you drill a small hole in the bottom to let water out?

I used a miter saw to cut all the pipe ... and on the down section I cut a slit through the end to slide a nylon strap through prior to putting the end cap on. The slit extends above the cap so water will drain out.
A hole would be better but I hadnt thought of it until they were in the tree.
In the future I will not use the straps .... so there will be no slit .... but there also wont be a need for the cap so the end of the pipe will just be open.
Attaching them one by one using a lag bolt will be much easier than trying to attach them all with a strap. That was the hardest thing about the whole deal .... hanging on the side of a tree and trying to hold 3 pipes, a strap and tighten the strap.

Looks good. There is such a thing as a tripod stand for areas like your killer riverbottom turf, just sayin

I love tripod stands. Comfortable swivel seat, shooting rail, easy to climb, I put burlap around the rail for a half-blind. Expensive though.
