Anyone ever hunt here. I suppose I put in for it but for the life of me don't remember. Guessing I hit it by accident. Worth the trip? Only place I got drawn for.

Like most F&W it's good if the rut and weather cooperate. Lot of ag fields on the property. Don't be afraid to get near the Wabash. Bucks run the river bottoms during rut.

Turkey hunt it quite a bit. Always deer sign in there and what was said above is true. They like to run those river bottoms. .

Fairbanks is highly under rated! we've shot some absolute monsters down there! If you park your truck and walk about 25 yards, hang your stand 6' off the ground you will probably be like everyone else and not see too much. however, if you walk back towards the thickets / close to the river bottom, you will see bucks! we hardly ever sit in trees when we go. don't be afraid to walk and see whats around. And don't let the oil police drive you away either, he drives a white ford ranger, he doesn't own anything there, just watches it! he'll run you off if he can, just know where you're at and you'll be just fine!

It is my opinion if you are drawn for a hunt you have a duty to show up. Now there are valid reasons to miss it but to not show is just wrong to those that did not get selected.

This is one of those draw hunts that a person might not be eligible to hunt if the drawn person fills their one state antlered tag before the hunt.

I just feel when you put in for a draw make sure you can make it there if you get lucky. Otherwise do not put in and potentially take up a spot someone else may want.

Last yar - first day around 25 or so signed in and the next was under 20. year before last i honestly cannot remember how many were signed in. I do know that it was a little higher than last, not by much though. I drive almost 2 hours to hunt there. I don't see why people skip this area! look at the maps, find the dirt 2 track roads (THEY ARE NOT FARM ROADS) they are county roads. This is how you access the Land locked state land. don't let the locals run you off, download ON X maps if you have a smart phone. It will work when you have little to NO service, it will tell you exactly where you are, where the state property line is and who / where the owner's name and property line is. we've always harvested nice bucks. 125-135 min, largest one I shot was in between 180-185" I'll hunt there 10+ times this year once the rut starts kicking in.

It is a lottery hunt, on open public land the rest of the season. If any antlered deer shot here doesn't count toward your statewide limit and therefor not tagged under your statewide license, what license would said deer be tagged under?

Like ALL good public land it is getting pounded by non residents. Was there last year and WITNESSED nine non residents from VT doing deer drives, using rifles and being compete A-holes. Called the DNR and nobody ever showed up. And I was not the only guy who called. I wish Indiana hunters would band together and take control of OUR deer hunting land like IOWA hunters have and continue to do and place STRICT limits on non-res hunter numbers.
