Wednesday I went up and did a little shooting lane clearing. I always carry my IPhone in my pocket when I'm in the woods. Starting home I tried to call Momma to tell her I was on my way and I was having trouble with my phone.
There was a white vertical line on the left side of the screen and my screen was unresponsive. She called me and I wasn't able to answer by the "slide to answer". I was able to call her back by sliding the "missed call" screen.
It seems that any button on the left side of that vertical line is non responsive.
I took the Otter Box off and the phone was filthy from being in my pocket. These jeans are my Habitat work jeans so there was some sawdust and dirt in the pockets. I gave the phone a good cleaning hoping that was the problem. No such luck.
Anyone else have this problem before? If so, how did you fix it?
I'll be taking it to the Apple Store a little later, I'm just wanting to know what to expect.
I surely don't want to buy one of those new $1,000 IPhones!

Did you turn it off and back on? Maybe what they call the digitizer(?) is bad but usually when I have problems I just restart it and I'm all better.

Unless you have phone insurance take it to a local repair place, heck of a lot cheaper.

Do a hard start where you push the top button and the face button at the same time when phone is off

Which one is it? If it is old enough I might not put the money into it.

How many squirrels tails would you need in order to get the new IPhone X?
Maybe we can all go on a squirrel rampage to help out our fearless leader???

Are you sure that line is not a "cracked screen " ?
Next time it rings try answering it by pushing the on/off button on top,

Sounds like maybe the internal screen is broke but the outside glass isn't.

Sounds like maybe the internal screen is broke but the outside glass isn't. BINGO!The battery was swollen and pushed up on the screen from underneath. I had to replace the battery and the screen..Total $100 at Smart phone repair. Works like it used to now... Thanks..

I was going to say get an android. LOL
What do you do with the new phones that have non-serviceable batteries? I'm still chugging along with my Galaxy S4.

So what make the battery swell? Humidity, sweat, fell out onto wet leaves?

So what make the battery swell? Humidity, sweat, fell out onto wet leaves? Dunno, maybe just old age and hundreds of recharges? I was clearing lanes and got a little sweaty and had the phone in my jeans pocket. On the way home the phone started acting up.. Phone is fine now.. I did have to ordere a new Otter Box for it as the old one broke when I was taking it off . Got a pretty good deal on eBay..
