With 20 or so less counties now out of late antlerless season I expect we will be lucky to break the 110,000 mark??? Time will tell. "20?" JJAS (who is usually pretty good with numbers) said it was only 8. See...Scroll to the second page... hunt-indiana.com/thread/59347/bonus-antlerless-quotas

I thought I read that 20 counties had dropped to 3 or less. I'm getting old. Could have been dreaming....lol Whatever number is there are less counties participating in late antlerless. I have never participated myself.

Again for sure less counties will be participating , which should equate to fewer killed I would think

I've been trying to tell the "you know who" group that the DNR as been cutting back for the last three years...tweaking if you will. To no avail.... Right now there are 41 counties that will not be participating in the "late special antlerless season". I dont participate either... I might be out that week but it will be with my crossbow and hunting a buck.

Hoping to add 1 more to total... You are correct on the 2016 MZ and "special antlerless season" totals. Not sure those 2016 daily numbers for the MZ season is available anywhere. Whether we crack 8,000 in MZ season and the 4,200 in the "special antlerless season" is up in the air, It might depend on the weather again.

What is the average for indiana? Definitely fewer killed around here. Many of my friends that kill deer every year didnt kill one this year. Weather the main factor, warmth, rain n winds have created some havic for sure.

Weather the main factor, warmth, rain n winds have created some havic for sure. Last year we killed 119,477. Early archery was up by about 4,000 albiet there was 6 additional days. Firearms was down by about 9,000 due to some extreme weather the opening weekend which was off 22,000 or so from 2016. Right now the muzzleoader season looks to surpass last season. My guess previously that we would top 110,00 to 111,000 deer registered is still on. The fact that archery and muzzleloader numbers are good leads me to believe that the herd is in fine shape in most areas. The opening firearm weekend was the fly in the ointment...

If you look back over the previous 15-25 years...we have always went through cycles of increasing then decreasing harvest totals. Typically these last 2-3 years with only once did a 5 year window show the same trend which was 2001-2005 (5yrs) when harvests increased each year...likewise though 1997-2000 (4yrs) all were decreases.
We'll never know but I bet even had the opening weekend of firearms not been terrible for hunting I expected us to be slightly below last year...just following trends.

Interesting tidbit that I didn't realize. Prior to 2015 season. PARK HUNT HARVESTS were not included in totals but Beginning in 2015 they included those. I also read youth weren't included either but I could not confirm that. (Maybe someone else knows if youth were included in total prior to 2015)

As for youth I personally have no clue. Perhaps Woody or someone else will know for certain.
