I don't see how it would have made it through the winter here. Someones pet that grew too big and they released it.

I'm sure it was somebody's pet. But, as mild as our winter was I think it might have been possible for one to have survived this last year.

According to Accuweather, Bedford was pretty mild. One night it was 8, a couple it got down to 10 or 12 degrees, but all the other nights were high 20s to low 40s for the lows. I didn't check Hancock county.
It felt like we didn't even have a winter down here. A couple cold days here and there was all.
Alligators are fairly common in parts of North Carolina and occasionally make their way into Virginia's Great Dismal Swamp area, so I think they can probably survive short durations of cold temperatures. How cold and how long? I have no idea.

Now suppose you're out fishing in a creek one summer. You look down and you see a two-foot croc-a-gator swim by. Now you KNOW what you saw--and you're pretty sure you're buddies know you don't B.S. Still, do you tell anyone, or just file it away in that "Nobody gonna believe that ****" file we all have?

It was in the Western Hills or Cincinnati Newspaper last month. Not sure what day. My wife showed it to me. It was in twice. First near Evansville, In and then Portsmouth, Oh. I think the Cincinnati Enquirer.
