I'd like to see it but I'm not very confident it has the backing to pass

I love the idea, but will upgrade to lifetime permit next year anyways just in case I travel somewhere a permit is needed.

What would the state have to gain by doing this? Looks like to me they look to lose money by doing this!

The state police make 9million per year off of it is what I heard.
Don't think it's going away anytime soon ...IMO

I'm not sure but I believe most of the money goes to the Indiana State Police but they're not the ones bringing up this law,the State Legislators are. But like it said in the article, some Safety groups and City Officials aren't wanting it. It's going to depend a lot on how many pro-gun and anti-gun Legislators there are and how much the anti-gun groups influence them. I'm not saying one way or the other if I think it'll pass,I'm just saying it would be nice. I have a lifetime permit already so it's not going to effect me either way. Time will tell I guess.

Let's say this passes and a person doesn't need to secure a permit anymore....
What happens if that person travels out of state and wants to carry their handgun?
One has to wonder if the states that recognize Indiana's carry permit now, would allow Indiana residents to carry without a permit or will they just say, no permit, no reciprocal right to carry in those states?

The way I understand is a guy will still need one to carry in some of the states we have rights in. Some will allow you to carry without a permit too. This will not remove the system or the income. It will Reduce the income but so did the life time license.

What would the state have to gain by doing this? Looks like to me they look to lose money by doing this! Not really. Indiana has a law that says they can't charge me than it costs to run the licensing program. In reality the income often doesn't fully cover the program.

This is why I support the permit process UNLESS we can get the Federal Government to implement a National Constitutional Carry Law. The most likely, but still a long shot, scenario would be a National Reciprocity law like driver's licenses. Pass the requirements in your state and you are legal in every state.

I would guess it would be like all the other States that have gone to CC - they would still offer a license for that reason.

Maybe they have made $9 mil total off the CCW permits to date? Most folks I know bought the lifetime and now pay nothing, so they get nothing annually from us.
