At least it looks like the DNR is still in charge as it should be not a group of FB Bullies.

I really don't think it makes a difference whether it's an 8 or a 4, I think the only significant difference is whether the county is included in the late antlerless firearms season (IMO). What makes a difference if you shoot antlerless in Nov. or Dec.... or with a gun or bow? Nothing dead is dead....

In the end it doesn't...however giving someone that last chance with any weapon choice does make a slight difference on harvest. Minimal at best IMO though so I see both your point and his.

Nothing wrong with killing does if your area can support it. My point is that so few kill 4 deer per year, a change from 8-4 is unlikely to make any real impact on harvest rates. But, slicing 1-2 weeks of firearms hunting off the end of the season will keep a few more around.

In 2016 there were 59 counties involved in the late antlerless season. In 2017 there are 51 counties eligible for the late antlerless season. Of the 8 county difference, two counties (Dubois and Warren) were involved in the CDAC trials and both of those were dropped from a 4 to a 3.
In other words, 75% of the counties that were removed from the upcoming late antlerless season were removed without CDAC input.
Perhaps the IDNR felt that harvest trends warranted their removal?
