The State Parks deer reduction hunts will no longer require that you identify hunting buddies when applying. The application will simply ask how many additional buddies you plan to bring if you are successfully drawn for the hunt. The additional buddies must still meet all age, residency, and licensing requirements of the State Parks deer reduction hunts. Three of us sign up together for one hunt. So the way this reads, we will have 3 chances to be drawn instead of one. Thats a lot better odds!!! I'm not sure how I feel about this change. Will this help actually fill the parks (all 3 of you get drawn with each bringing 2 buddies), or will they end up with less hunters in the parks?

Less hunters each hunt I believe. My two sons and I hunt together. If all three get drawn still only three hunters hunting but took up two more drawn spots than normal.

Has anyone actually signed up for a State Park yet? I don't see the Reduction Hunts listed in the dropdown menu with all the Military Refuge and FWA hunts.
Never mind, should have looked farther down the list of threads someone listed a date range for the hunts to be available and we aren't in that range yet... Disregard above.

Has anyone seen the 2016 State Park Deer Reduction Results report? The 2015 version is available on line, but I can't find 2016. Interesting to see Prophetstown taken off the list for this year. When I was there in 2015, the harvest number was pretty low. I don't have any time to take off work so it looks like I'll sit out this years SP hunts.

I'm not thinking that I'll sign up for any hunts. Maybe Big Oaks, but I really don't know.

I went ahead and applied for Big Oaks, regular gun and muzzleloader, and for Spring Mill early and late hunts.

You have to have your deer license bought already to apply?

I did sign up for a dove hunt and Big Oaks, but that's it. It seems hard for me to get motivated this year.

MILITARY/REFUGE ARCHERY, PRIMITIVE AND FIREARM DEER DRAW HUNTS Applicants must have successfully completed a Hunter Education class to participate. Wonder why the went to this being mandatory ^^^ ? Per Joe Rob at BO this information is incorrect.... there has been no changes in the way they are drawing folks
