Good stuff. I used to raise training rabbit but got out of it. Saved a couple of my breeders I got attached to. The last pup I bought I started him on some of the tame ones. I have a black one that's about double the size of a cottontail and figured he'd be good to use so the pup wouldn't hurt it. Put the pup down at eight weeks old and immediately the switched clicked in him. Chased him a good bit...Until the bunny just had enough. Mid chase the bunny stopped, turned around, and I swear did a Bruce Lee jump, roundhouse kick to the side of my pup. Pup literally rolled backwards twice and the rabbit stood there looking at him, not moving an inch, daring him to try it once more. Puppy thought better of it. Most of the pup training chasing the bunny was done in the living room. Set one down and the chase was on throughout the house. Thank the Lord I have an understanding wife.
I do have an older male acts like yours though. He is one heck of a brush and jump dog. As long as the rabbit is running. I've seen him in my running pen, climb on top of a brush pile and could see the rabbit but he just stares at it waiting for it to run. It's no fun if he don't chase it. The others? Well they are degenerates. We'd have pieces of rabbits if I tried that. I put one outside their kennel the other day. Almost lost all the fencing before I could get the rabbit caught. The terrier part kick in on that one you are going to have a bit less of a bunny to take care of. Cute picture though. They are buddies for life.
