This was an amazing hunt that only lasted minutes. I was going to play basketball in town as I do every Monday and was looking in the fields on my way down the road and noticed two gobblers with two hens. I called dad, who was already in bed, and told him to get dressed and I was turning around. Basketball is year round. Turkey hunting is three weeks. We walk up the field and I used my binos to try to see them again. I couldn't. They had moved on. I got out my box call as it is loudest. Have some loud yelps and got a response. Two ridges away and in the field. My dad is 57 and smoked for years. I told him to keep and steady pace and follow me. I grabbed the gun from him so he didn't get too tired. We finally made it in the woods where I thought we could call them to. I have a few shorts calls and heard them gobble still in the field. He was tired and didn't want to move closer so we stayed put. The next gobble was CLOSE. They crested the hill at about 30 yards and we were hidden up against a tree. They never saw it coming. Told dad to pick one and shoot. One started flopping shortly after the shot! Dad had some health issues at the end of last year and I was so happy to have this moment again and hopefully many more!

Feather duster. Yes it is. It's my dads grandpas gun. He loves to turkey hunt with it.

Feather duster. Yes it is. It's my dads grandpas gun. He loves to turkey hunt with it. We got one in the safe too! It came back home, as a gift to our son, originally from his grandfather he never got to meet. Somehow the owner heard there was a grandson born, and he hand delivered it to our door! Wow.
