I don't believe I've seen a thread for this yet this year. Anybody have any out of state big game trips planned for 2017?
Mine are:
-Alabama hog hunt (completed last weekend) -Wyoming antelope (2nd week of October, pending draw) -Montana deer (2nd week of November)
I put in a sort of "long-shot" application for Wyoming bison, odds weren't terrible but still don't expect to draw.
Depending on how much Comp time I accrue, I may go for Arizona Coues deer and Javelina next January.
I know a few other folks are planning some hunts...

I'm taking this year off. I have a huge list of home/yard projects. Trying to get them all finished this year so the majority of future years are free. New garden , 130 ft long by 7 ft high retaining wall, and a 20 x 30 storage shed. Moving a lot of fill dirt and topsoil. I also hope to create a 1/4 acre food plot on the old baseball field on my side yard. Good luck to all and adventurers.

Are you doing a guided or self guided Montana deer hunt?

I just started looking into the Block Management program. Not sure if I can make it this year but I'm hoping to make it out there for a hunt someday. One of the most Beautiful states I've been in.

I'll be going to Brownsville; this is as close to oos that I'll get. I'm a one tank kind of guy.

Maybe Texas hogs, applying for preference points in Co and Wy. Usual trip to Wi for deer, but other than that, nothing planned. I will be visiting a high fence operation right at the Texas/Oklahoma border next month, they want to turn their 65ac lake into a trophy Largemouth lake. I've been told to get a vertical bow and practice, as I have a client that wants me to come to Colorado to bowhunt elk on his place during the rut. BUT, he said all the elk have had to be packed out in pieces, and we're talking 10,000' elevation and higher. He did say that his last elk was shot at 3 feet, and he's not 100% sure the fletching cleared the bow before the broadhead hit the elk. He said that if I could hit a paper plate at 20 yds all the time I was good to go. Maybe if I were to lose 50 pounds................

I know a few other folks are planning some hunts... Well, I actually failed to draw the MT deer tag. It's the first time in about 5 years that it wasn't a guaranteed draw.
I'm looking into Idaho now or possibly a leftover Colorado deer tag. Or I may just use that time here at home to get some more bow hunting in.

Why wasn't it guaranteed anymore?

Why wasn't it guaranteed anymore? Demand for that tag exceeded supply for the first time in several years.
