We live very rural. I butcher my own deer, and always leave the carcasses down the hill by the woods at my house or dump them out in the tree row next door. Between the yotes and crows, they don't last long. The neighbor built a house behind us and let's his dog run loose. It apparently was taking deer parts home. He ed and asked if I would clean them up. I did a few times but thought not my job to keep his dog tied up. Then he got another dog and it has gotten worse. He did supply me with rubber gloves and industrial bags to dump them in. I have done a good job lately, until my last deer. I flipped my wheelbarrow over on top of the last carcass, then put my deer cart and a log on top of it. I was stashing it for yote bait. But of course, his dogs found it and drug most of it home. He came to see me today and gave me an ear full. I said he wouldnt be having a problem if his dogs were tied up. He was ed! He said it was my land and could do whatever I wanted, but it was BS that he would have to contain his dogs. Lol. About time. He owns 13 acres and thinks they should run free and do what they please. Just sad. I put up a fence for our dog when he moved in so they wouldnt have to deal with each other. No hard feelings on my part then, but this ain't sitting pretty with me now.

Yea neighbors suck at times. Not your problem if his dogs drag home road kill or your dead deer. If he gets mad tell him he owes you for the yote bait his dogs destroyed

We have a leash law in our county. I don't know about the state.
I plan to put up signs when I set my coyote traps. Nope, the dogs can't read, but people will walk their dogs along the creek. It's trespassing, but I just want them to be aware. It's not really the dogs fault and I don't want them to get hurt.

These dogs have recently been picked up a mile away by Animal Control. We heard it has happened a few other times and that they would be euthenized if they were caught again. Somebody got that from Facebook and told my wife (we aren't on Facebook). They are nice dogs and I don't necessarily want to see anything happen to them. One is an older Shepherd with sore hips. Once he gave me a growl when I was rubbing them, but realize it must have just hurt. We have a 6yo son, and if that dog ever so much as growls or shows teeth, you know the end of tht story. As said, its not the dogs fault the owners are stupid.

I like dogs, but I wouldn't have been very nice to the guy probably.
Let me get this straight? You're telling me what to do with my place because you're too lazy and/or stupid to contain your dogs.
And probably downhill from there.

Most counties have leash laws... Check into yours. If the owner isn't out or has them under control/ supervision, he's in violation. I'm a jerk, I'd tell HIM to put some gloves on and bring MY deer carcass back to MY property where I put it....and tell him your putting bout coyote traps and snares. Best keep his pets home and safe

I'd tell him the same thing every time he shows up. No more no less.
"Sounds like ya got lucky again! If you LOVE your animals, best keep 'em at home."

I wouldn't make a hostile neighbor situation if I don't need to. But I would tell him the only way he can stop the deer parts showing up at his house is to keep his dog penned up. If you are ok with his dog roaming fine but don't bend over backwards to allow it to do so. I being me , would have laughed about the carcass disposal proposition. I have had dogs that run and had neighbors who had dogs that ran only time it was a true issue for me was when my female came into heat. Current anima do not roam but I live in town. My best advice is to go tell the neighbor good fences make good neighbors ;-) it's nice to be able to vent when things like this occur isn't it ? I would just keep disposing of them in a legal manner and let his dog keep taking pieces back to him he may not like it but it's part of having a dog that roams. Cussing and calling the cops is going to make him upset probably. Just keep doing what You like

Yeah, what sucks is we are good neighbors. He plows my driveway and gives me wood he cuts. In turn I work on his vehicles. Been a good system so far. He even roofed my house. Just sad he cant see how this is HIS issue, not ours.

Just sad he cant see how this is HIS issue, not ours. In that case it sounds like he's not really asking for much. He's just a little excitable. I'd probably dump them with the garbage at this point and cut him a break. Never know, you may want a dog or a cat someday.

Ummmmmmmm....................... When was the last time he plowed your drive?
I wonder what he'd do if you tole him that you heard that the neighbor was having someone set snares for coyotes the end of the week. I wonder if that would change his mind? Remind him that snares kill......

Remind him that snares kill...... Yeah, the no plowing this last big storm was a tip off something was wrong. My wife asked me what I did to tick off the neighbors this time. Lol. Thankfully she is on my side on this one, and always has been in the past incidents. I don't want to make a threat with the snares and start down that road yet. We have always been good neighbors and I hope to keep it that way. Apparently there is no fixing stupid though. His dogs have a path beat into the snow right from his place to our house and my trash cans. They were actually over today nosing around after the confrontation when he was home. Unbelievable!!! I was wishing I had a cattle prod or something to send them flying home. Thinking of what to do to scare the crap out of them. Maybe should start taking pictures and call Animal Control every time until they get the hint?

Best keep his pets home and safe It is amazing how a "Dog" can turn Neighbor against Neighbor over something concern the topic at hand, among other issues. There should be leash laws in all 50 States; where the Dogs owner should be required to keep his Dog on HIS own property, and can't cause issues with Neighbors. Personally I am not a Dog person, and I expect others around me to keep their Dogs on their own property. I discarded the remains of the Buck I got this past season in my woods, as I do each year. Crows, Coyotes, and Raccoons usually have it picked clean in about a week. Washington State have VERY STRICT laws regarding Dogs; as they require the Dog to be collard with the owners name, phone number, address, when they are used for hunting. ANY free roaming dog without a I.D. collar is taken to a Dog Shelter and after 24 hours, put down. Free roaming Dogs with the collar picked-up the owner is fined. Anyone who can't afford to provide something like a fence or other type containment for Dogs, have no business owning a large outdoor dog.

Regardless of the deer parts issue, I wouldn't want his dogs running loose on my place. I don't mind the neighbors dog coming to visit us in the yard up around the house, but when I see them running loose on the back forty where I hunt, that is a problem.

I realize it's your property and you can do what you want But If your wanting to keep peace Dump your deer somewhere else what's the big deal The dogs are coming to the trash because of what's in it Change up there a little . I'd tell him about the snares In a nice way he might just appreciate it I Would ! sounds like he's not going to do anything ,so it's up to you like it or not ! Or you can butt heads like a couple of Billie Goats

Property owners have to pay property tax on their land. Neighbors should respect ones wishes by keeping their Dogs on THEIR OWN property. If my neighbor let his Dogs run free and ignored my not wanting his Dog on my property I'd call the Sheriff on him.

Same clue my neighbors get if I happen to still be PO when I'm plowing my own. It all just depends on if you want to get along with him or not and how bad. IF it was my neighbors dog I'd ask or suggest the same things I'd do for my own dogs. NEVER EVER FEED THEM. Don't pet them or do any thing else to make them feel welcome or at home at your place. Next level BB gun them to send a stronger message. Electric fence around the trash cans or other place I want them to stay away. I'd only do this because I already own and electric fence I've used for 20 years to teach my own dogs where I want them to stay away and where "the line" is they don't cross. It really shouldn't require this for someone else's dogs unless you've made a habit of treating them like your own petting and feeding them.
