Dennis, if you have never been waterfowl hunting, I believe a few of us on here could change your mind pretty quick. To me, you are too much of a social person to not enjoy some quality time in a blind. I would second that. Don't go down the rabbit hole, Dennis. Waterfowl is a sickness for sick individuals.

If I had to pic from all I had hunted, I'd pick elk, otherwise woolly mammoth!

GROUSE - I'm often asked this question and the answer is that I was born a rabbit hunter but grew into a grouse hunter. There's a lot to be said for pheasant hunting but grouse will always be my favorite. The work the state is doing in our forests right now will help but the vast majority of private lands are not being managed properly and don't get me started on the Hoosier National Forest. We may see the grouse come back (a group of grouse was spotted this year in the Hoosier Hardwood Experiment) but we won't hunt them again in my life in Indiana. The plans are already set up for reintroduction of birds if we can get some decent habitat in about 10-15 years.

I had a few grouse on my property several years ago. But now there gone. I think the coyotes took care of them.

I jumped a grouse once on my place 2 years ago. First and only time I've ever seen one.
Thinking about cutting at least some of my place for better habitat.

If we could find a way to successfully muzzle the bunny butt buffer groups that seem to think their "feelings" are more important than actual science, then we could have proper habitat again.

I actually saw a grouse once too. I didn't know what it was until I looked it up. I walked up on it when scouting for turkeys. It was sitting on a downed log until I got about 15yds from it.

I did have a lot of fun shooting at the doves. I eventually hit a few.

No surprise to anyone here, rabbits for me. I would find it hard to stop turkey hunting though.
Farm I hunt in Washington county still has a sizeable population of ruffed grouse. It has all they need though as the farm has been logged numerous times in the last ten years.

Since I want to keep that habitat good I'd still have to go after feral hogs just as much as possible!....and I'll disagree with the venison lovers-a #200 hog tastes better than venison. The other plus is that they are almost everywhere.
But I will say as far as bucket list of other animals to pursue would be (in no certain order)-bison, elk, brown/black bear, moose, deer, turkey, waterfowl....I'm sure I've missed a few!!

I'd definitely do an elk hunt again, only it wouldn't be with Silver Bow outfitters (that was a joke btw don't trust that operation). Or maybe even a black rhinoceros hunt... $250,000 for a tag, that's my dream hunt for sure.

I still just want to limit out on a daily squirrel hunt. I'm easily pleased.

I still just want to limit out on a daily squirrel hunt. I'm easily pleased. Done. Next fall I'll let you know when the squirrels have moved onto murder hill and you can come down and fill your limit. You can ride your 4 wheeler right to it, take a 20 yard walk to my chair, and plug away. Last year when I did this I shot the first one and 11 others showed themselves. I ended up missing twice, but a limit in 3 minutes or less is pretty fun. About an hour from truck to truck.
