Wife says it's time for a gun safe/locker can't afford a nice fire safe like I would like just really looking for a metal box that locks at minimum my budget is around 200$ my main concern is of course making the wife happy so more guns it hold the better. If you know where a good enough cheap enough one is let me know thanks. I would be Willing to sacrifice a couple guns storage for a little bit nicer setup/lock mechanism. But my budget is pretty firm.

Without going the full fire safe route, Rural King has good deals this time of year. I have 2 of the 14 gun lockers and I think they were around 120 each. The kids each have an 8 gun that were about 80 each.
Full fire safes are the best choice, but nothing is absolute. Bolt the lockers in well.

I have 14 long guns and a few handguns in each of mine. I had to add a 3" false bottom in one of them because the handirifles are a bit short.

I doubt It, I have a 64 and 36 and neither will hold those numbers.

Spend the extra money for a safe that will fit all your needs for both now and in the future. The heavier the better so that a group of thieves can't cart it off,the larger the better for storing more than guns such as extra cash, family photo albums, family treasures ect. It will give you a piece of mind.

Yes I want a 10,000 dollar walk in gun vault but that's about 1/3 of my annual income so 200$ is what I've got.

A while back there was another thread about gun safes-one of the options brought up then (I think by Steiny?) was to look around for one of the explosion proof chemical cabinets and convert it into a gun cabinet. I thought then it sounded like a good idea since I'm used to dealing with them in our lab but just haven't found one yet-need to do some more looking around again!

Also old refrigerators or stand up freezers. Something hidigin plain sight works and if you have any handy skills you can modify to fit your needs.

Do you have an extra closet. Had a customer that turned one into a "safe" with a couple of reinforced deadbolt locks. Isn't fire safe worth a darn but keeps them out of little hands and from walking away.

Figure scoped guns take up the space of 2 guns. I figure on if a safe says "holds 36" then it holds 18 without using Vaseline to get them in there.

Keep this in mind..... buying a large safe can save money on babysitters, just a thought.

I put all my guns in silicon socks and then you can lean them against each other without scratching and get more in the safe also. Rural King or Menards usually have the best sales.

I went with a 22 gun stack-on ordered on eBay for about 140$ shipped. Mom decided she wanted to go half with the wife on it so this is what we decided on. It should hold all my guns and was a minimal investment for a "temporary" safe

It should hold all my guns and was a minimal investment for a "temporary" safe The stack on brands is what my 14 gun cabinets are. 8 across the back, 3 scoped guns on each side, handguns in the bottom and on the shelf. I guess I should actually buy a couple handgun cabinets. They actually bolt to the top of the long gun cabinets.
