I picked up the new "family car" Wednesday. 2016 F150 XLT, 3.5L twin turbo V6, 365 hp, 420 ftlbs of torque, 4 wheel drive, 0-60 in 6.3 secs, and still rated to tow 11,600 lbs. The "All-Terrain" tires are pretty week though. She goes in for the bed liner in the morning. After that I have to decide whether I want to put a camper shell on it or a tonneau cover.

You know I have a weak heart and you post something like this??? ...as tight as you are??? I didn't figure you'd buy a new anything even if you won the lotto.

LOL - My Dad is a Ford retiree, and we got another $5,500 in incentives. All told, it was ~$12,000 off sticker. My old mule I bought new 16.5 years ago, and the Indiana winters were really starting to take a toll on the body. I buy them new (with the employee discount) and keep them until parts start falling off!

Nicely done! I like it. I was at a Ford dealer today with my mom and she about drove out of there with a 2017 F350 dually but they wouldn't come down another 4K so she walked.

I went in with a list of must haves (3.5L ecoboost, 4wd, 4 door, 6.5' bed, 3.55 locking rear end, split front bench, tow package, power windows, mirrors, and locks). They quickly realized I wasn't going to play games and would walk out the door and go to the next dealer with my Z plan pricing. They tried to pitch one of the 2015s on the lot with a 3.31 rear end and quickly got shot down. (Turns out the incentives are beret on the 2016s!) They acted life they didn't want to do a dealer search for my requirements, but did anyway, and found this one out in Greencastle. After it was delivered, someone saw it on the lot and another salesman tried to steal it. These dealers don't seem to know what people want and how to order trucks!

Congrats. That rust shouldn't be an issue with the aluminum body panels. Just keep the underside clean
I really think Ford has it figured out with their trucks...

Nice ride. I bought a 2016 Lariat Supercrew 4x4 with the 5.0 liter V-8 back in September. Where did your dad retire from? My family works at the transmission plant just north of Cincinnati.

You've got good tastes in trucks, nothing like a Ford . You might look into Mastercraft Courser CT tires, they're in between all terrain and MT tires aggressive tread wise, that's all I use on my Fords on the drive wheels anyway. They go through a bunch of stuff and last longer than MTs. Course they cost more than all terrains but that's expected.

While I was talking to the guy, he asked me if I got it rust-proofed at the dealer. I told it him it had an aluminum body ... and he said, "Oh yeah, the aluminum bed." I replied, "It's not just the bed, the entire body is aluminum." And that was the end of that sales pitch.

Dad retired from the plant that used to be on the southeast side of Indy. He was there 30 some years. After he retired it became Visteon for a few years, then the plant closed. I drove a SuperCrew XL 4x4 with the 5.0 recently and was impressed. I was towing an airboat with and couldn't tell the boat was back there.

I really like the BFGoodrich All-Terrain TA KOs, but they are pricey. I got 60,000 mi out of them on my last set. The last set I put on my classic truck were Cooper Discoverer ATP. They have actually surprised me. They are quieter and smoother than I expected, and have better traction offroad than I expected. They have ~30,000 mi on them and still have a lot of tread left, although they are starting to hum.

ugh.....ford? did it come with heated tailgate?😉 Anyone wanting a discount for a GM vehicle let me know. I can give out 2 discounts a month I believe😎 No heated tailgate, but the fu-fu backup camera and backup sensor are on it. I discovered today that if you back up with the tailgate down, the stupid backup sensor screams at you thinking you are about to hit the ground. I have to figure out how to disable that damn thing.
