I didn't get drawn either and I also enjoy that hunt, especially since it's about a two minute drive to get there.

I will be there tomorrow. Never hunted there but am taking my cousin who is my guide as he is active guard. He is pretty pumped so I take that as a good sign.

Not much shooting at Atterbury today, I ended up shooting a doe. I checked out at 11:30 and only 6 deer had been checked in.

I drove through the area as a lot of hunters were checking out. I didn't see a whole lot of deer but did get behind a jeep driving out with an eight pointer on the back.

Never saw a deer but had to leave at noon due to cousin having family obligations. Being the first time I have ever hunted it is would say crane allows you to spread out much more and definitely easier to navigate in dark. Those hunts are always fun, and I compare them to a big fish only tournaments and go for broke. Only saw two does in trucks from spot to check in and we hunted far south.

I am new here. I am Active Army currently on recruiting Duty in Noblesville. I have been here about a week. How does the Atterbury hunt work, and is their any advantages being Active Duty?

I believe active duty can hunt bow only mon thru Thursday and sun after 1. That is my understanding from my cousin who is active duty and hunts there some. Probably better than most public ground north and around indy. Lots of cover, I would contact the atterbury conservation club to get some more accurate details.
