Short and sweet KY gun season. Yesterday morning wasn't real eventful but saw 4 does and 3 bucks, including this guy but I missed him at 50 yards. Still no clue how. The evening hunt was better seeing 15ish antlerless but only 2 bucks. Went to the other end of the farm this morning and hunted a box blind over a field back in the woods. Before legal time I seen 4 bodies walking across the frost then just after 600 a spike and a 4pt came out of the bottom of the field at 130yds. Few minutes later this dude came out behind them. I'd said I wouldn't shoot him if he came back but after watching for a few minutes, I figured I didn't need to be an idiot twice in 1 weekend. Took the shot at 120yds and as the smoke cleared I saw him enter the woods and all was silent. Honestly I was concerned I missed again because he didn't seem in a hurry and never heard a crash. 30 minutes later I had to go check the site of the shot to check for tracks anyways while the frost was still good. Within a few minutes of found a single drop and glanced up towards where he went and there he laid 15yds away, he fell right where I saw him enter the field. Cool ending to the story was a few minutes ago I noticed a shed laying in the barn that I found this spring, it's an exact match to this Buck. Where he laid on the edge Big bodied deer, filled up the bed And finally the shed

Way to redeem! Dandy of a buck! It's been a couple years since I've been down to Adair co. KY. Looking forward to some future hunts.

When I seen the first picture i thought he had a drop tine. then I realized it was a stick propping him up. Good for you. Congrats

That's a high rack. Any idea on how old it is? He didn't grow much since he shed that antler. I bet he is an older buck. Congratulations on a cool looking deer.

The pic of the shed is deceiving with it being between the rack and camera, we were kinda surprised how much he did grow actually. Not much tine improvement but mass and beam length jumped up considerably. I'd like to have my taxidermist age him. I've personally never seen a head so big on a deer.lol. For reference, he's over 18" inside and you can tell how wide his whole head is compared to that in the facing pic..just a big ol block head.

Good job, I thought the prop stick was a funky drop tine when I first saw the picture!
