I have had an eagles nest on the creek by my house for awhile now but the tree fell last spring. I thought they had left but I would still see them occasionally. This fall I noticed what I thought was the biggest squirrels nest I ever saw but now that the leaves are off I realized it must be their new nest. It literally is in a hickory tree 5 yds from one of my stands.

My brother in law has one on his property north of Zionsville. Same type location, deep in woods, above creek. Pretty cool.

The eagle population has really rebounded over the last few decades. I see them fairly regularly in my area now.

Either the picture doesn't do it justice or it looks like a hawk nest to me

Not a great picture, trying to take it zoomed in and from treestand by phone. The Eagles were frequently coming from that area after the nest fell last year but never really pinpointed where. I thought they were just hanging around but the nest is really only about 300 yds from previous one. I used to be able to actually see them setting from my upstairs window on the nest. This nest would only be a year old. They actually will add to it each year some. This pair actually migrates but will reappear about February. I will confirm it then to be sure I was able to speak with the head eagle biologist for the state awhile back and their story is actually really neat. This pair is believed to be likely from some of the original released birds at lake monroe and lemon. My aunts farm had the first nesting pair at lake lemon back in the 80's.
