Heck, every time I shoot my bow it is a competition for me just to hit what I am aiming at.
Never been to a shoot but I bet it would be lots of fun.

I used to shoot a bunch of 3-D and indoor all the time. Now that I've moved, haven't really found a 3-D circuit yet. I'm trying to though.

The backyard competition is about all of the shooting stress I can take!

I shot my first round of 3D this past Spring at Nancy's Broken Arrow range South of Cloverdale and was astounded at the fun that I had. Not knowing what to expect and going alone the first few times, I quickly found many helpful and fun souls to shoot the course with. Every shoot has a different theme (Big Buck warmup, turkey warmup, fun shoot, etc, etc) so each shoot seems so different that it is like shooting an entirely different course each time. I found that I could be as laid back or as serious as I wished to be and still fit right in. One shoot (when I did put on a game-face) I managed to take a 3rd place ribbon in the Bowhunter class. I was pleased, as anyone who has shot this course knows, there is a LOT of guys at every shoot. Its true that even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then ! In any case, it is the most enjoyment I know how to squeeze out of 8 or 10 bucks anymore.

10 or 12 years ago used to shoot a lot of NFAA. Kids, business, TIME has replaced that ! The ex wife won her division in State one year, got a 5' tall trophy. Best I could do was 3rd in bowhunter my triophy was about 8"tall !! She really enjoyed showing them to everyone !

I shoot at the same places where people shoot competitively, and pay the same entry fees. Is that close enough?
Doesn't look like the NFAA shooting is doing very well in your poll. I suspect that one reason may be that there's no way to include that answer in your response without making it your only reported shooting! Needs to be an "all the above" choice for those of us who shoot anywhere and everywhere we can. I shoot some NFAA at the Pine hill club, and even went to Vegas to get thumped soundly by guys who could REALLY shoot, but still had to answer the poll as "3D and indoor spots", leaving out the NFAA shooting, as the other two are what I shoot most.

I shoot indoor to sharpen my skills, compete with myself and have fun with the guys and gals. I shoot outdoors for all the same reasons, but hope to concetrate on distance and where to aim on the animal. I just love archery. Take is away and I'm a empty soul
