Goose and duck season opened up this last weekend on Oct the 22. No ducks but plenty of geese. We did really good ,two of the three days we hunted. We haven't had this good a season in about ten years. Saturday morning. Sunday morning. Also had our resident Sandhills visiting. Monday we only got one lone goose that was out. Some early morning pics.

It's funny how the day before season the city of Laporte is full of both ducks and geese, two days later you can't hardly buy a bird. I hunted the first 2 days with my grandson and it was great to be teaching a rookie some of my tricks and it all paid off when he fired the first shot from his first shotgun and killed a mallard drake as it was about to set in the spread. I'll tell you I don't know who was more surprised me, him or the duck. We saw a handful of woodies a couple mallards and some geese of which I killed my first ever lesser Canada.

congrats!
I killed my first duck I ever shot at and it was a nice drake mallard. But jump shot and not my 1st shotgun so not as perfect but still a great memory.
I still remember my 1st squirell. killed it with 1st shot from dad's 22 bolt action. Prob 11 or 12.
Now deer...I missed a few before I got one. Crazy what you can recall

Yes the first day sounded like WWIII was starting up around us. Last couple days geese haven't been flying but the ducks have been but the are on a mission to get somewhere and aren't stopping along the way. Only one woody today. Seen 20 ducks total
