Well I got off work at Community East Hospital at 3:30. Wow. I never knew I could make it home so fast. With this north wind tonight, although stiff, I knew I had to be in the stand in the spot me and Dad call the Back Left. Three scrapes lined the back fence row right outside the woods and so I set up in a tree I have only set in once. I had minimal shooting lanes but plenty of cover for shooting on these close shots by the scrapes. At 6:55pm I hear what sounded like a grunt. Then another. I turn to see a half racked 10 point jump the fence about 80 yards away. He works the fence edge that goes away from me. That was enough to get my bow in hand. I look behind me in the woods to check and before I can turn back I hear footsteps. Here he comes. He stops at the first scrape and gives it his all. Face, antlers, feet and finally peed all over himself. At this point he's 40 yards and closing. At 15 yards he gets behind a tree and I draw. He clears the tree but stops at another scrape that I wasn't aware of. I'm at full draw for what felt like a lifetime but probably was only 15 seconds. He takes two more steps and I stopped him. Arrow hit a little high and he fell straight down. One final arrow in the boiler room and he was down. What a hunt. What a year. What a night. Couldn't be happier or more proud of this deer.

Very nice. I think that's the first big buck taken by a H-I member this year.
