I have called CO's that have shown up within an hour and other times they never showed up. I agree they are busy but it only takes a minute or two to at least return a phone.
I am sure they also have to prioritize the seriousness of each call taken and go from there. They have a tough job and little man power to do it. I would move on and continue to hunt. All the documentation is on here you tried to do the right thing.
Or you can do what my father in law did, call them at 6a at home and wake them up. CO was supposed to come out 2 days in a row and never showed up or called. Sure that didn't go well. LOL.

I already did all of these things. I was told that officers can't call back at specific times, no appointments, nothing of the sort. Quite frankly it's a load of crap that it's been impossible for me to speak with an officer personally. Our tax dollars and license fees and whatever else pays for this system, they are working for us they are our employees !!!! No, they are employees of the State of Indiana. If you have reported it, locally or through the tip line, then you've done your part. Move on and enjoy your season. They work for the government which is supposed to be for the people by the people. We pay taxes yes they work for us.

Do you help set their pay scale? Do you conduct their evaluations? Do you sign their pay checks?

You don't have to agree but that's how I see it. I'm not arguing with you or anyone else about it end of conversation good day to you.

You listed several reasons for missing their call, one of them being that you were driving. You have no one to blame but yourself for not having talked to them by now. I'd say after a few missed calls they assume you weren't too serious about taking their call and move on.

Is this about the bait pile you found? If so Is the bait still there? If so I don't think I would be to torn up about hunting there. Must not be a very good spot. If it's gone then I would think the 10 days are about up to be in the clear to hunt close to it. It is 10 days ain't it??? You did what you could do, now go hunting .

I know for a fact it was in an area deer are traveling through. I'm gonna give it a go this weekend.

It almost sounds like you are more upset that you don't have the CO's cell number more than you are about the bait pile. You've done what you feel is the best you can do. Just go on and they will get in contact with you if they need to.

Oh believe me I was mighty upset about the bait pile. I'm just very concerned about the entire deal because I don't want to be accused of doing something I'm not and I would feel a lot better about it knowing the situation has been resolved. Realistically you could be on public land and not know bait was there and find yourself in a situation. I know there are higher priority things going on than my situation. so I will try to just hunt knowing I did the right thing and if a such scenario comes about I have documentation that I reported it.

If it's on public property, like Kingsbury, I'm sure if you stop at the main office when they are open someone will help.

And pro poachers would schedule a meeting on one end of the county then have free reign poaching on the other end while CO is waiting on a fictitous meeting

I mean this in the most polite way possible: I am extremely glad the CO's cannot drop things on the whim or care of a hunter's desires. Their non-predictability is their #1 tool in finding, discovering or beating poachers, trespassers and illegal activities on our waters and in our woods.
I've learned often times if my local CO doesn't have the ability to contact me or respond directly quickly...most likely no matter how important my issue seems, he is dealing with something farther up the ladder or something that needs his attention at the moment.
I can think of one such time.....he was assisting the State PD with a drug raid of some kind somewhere...
Most of the men and women in our CO staff are outdoors lovers just like you and I...grew up fishing and hunting and sadly due to their career choice don't get to spend as much time doing it as they'd like because during their busiest times is when the best hunting and fishing occurs. That sacrifice though is worth it to them, as they are who we call to ensure our rights as hunters and landowners are protected and the game we pursue is pursued legally.
