This was the result of a 15yrd broadside shoot with the Rage Hypodermics. First year ive used these. Will also say out of 4 deer shot with crossbow, this was the first complete pass thru. None of the previous deer had made it further than 30yrds. This doe didn't make it 10, and looked like a massacre had taken place. Needless to say, im pleased with the results! Sorry if its graphic to some...wanted to share.

With that shot placement any broadhead is gonna make quick work. Congrats and great shot placement.

I've switched from muzzy to rage last year. And the furthest deer made it maybe 20 yards! The other dropped in it's tracks. blew through 1 shoulder and out the other. Really does a number on them! Quick clean kills imo.

Nice shot, I use rage I bet I've had for 7-8 years. Still killing deer just clean them up and sharpen every couple years.

Ive used rage the last couple of years, this is just the first ive used the Hypodermics. I almost made the choice to go with fixed blade, just out of fear of a mechanical not opening properly. But i have zero complaints out ot any of the Rage broadheads ive used. Like i said im 4-4, and im pretty set these are what ill stick with.

I killed 9 deer with them...but hate them. Lol! Good job! why do you hate them? They lost so much kinetic energy while opening with my set-up that I only got one pass-through shot out of the nine deer. I had eight broken arrows to show for it. Lol! And that doesn't even count the 10-point buck that I lost. It was hit by a car two months later with my arrow stub still in it. My wife is a runner and saw the arrow after the deer had been scavaged on by animals. I retrieved it, and the Rage was rusted solid in the CLOSED position.

I guess until one fails me, i wont change a bit. Also like you m4, this has been my only pass thru. No broken arrows with the non pass thrus thankfully. In previous years i used the orange 100 grain rages, forget what the actual name was, and a 420 grain carbon express bolt. This year i did change, everything about my setup. I now shoot a 390 grain carbon express arrow and the 100 grain Hypodermics. With this setup i am 1-1 on pass thru, and the shortest tracking job ive had to date.

I'm a smaller built guy I shoot 60 lbs I have never had a pass threw with a rage. I think they lose a lot of sharpness with cutting the hair and KE. I went to slick trickz this year to give it a try. If they don't work I will go with the knocked off Chinese rages I have watched pently of reviews on youtube.12 for 20 dollars! Heck yeah. Ill sharpen the blades an be good to go. 44 dollars for three not gonna do it for me.

I'm 100% on pass-throughs since switching to Slick Tricks. 11 deer so far with them, I think.

I'd never tell someone what to use or not use but threads about broadheads like this make LOL and kinda mad at the same time.
Again, shoot what you want BUT a mechanical blade will open 99% of the time in MY opinion...unless there's a defect before the shot, which you should've noticed when you knocked the arrow/bolt. You don't have to be an Engineer to look at one to see that.
And let's say it doesn't open, if you hit where you should, you'll have a dead deer (or anything) also you have zero way to tell it didn't open. Whether it's a non-pass thru or it hits something after the pass thru, there are too many variables to cause the blades to look opened or not. And no way to tell one way or the other.
My 2 cents.

Mkfrench IS right.
A field point will kill a deer if hit in the right spot. Might be extremely difficult to recover though.
Many, many years ago I hunted Colorado when a hunter in camp shot a pretty decent buck that he did not find. I found it a couple days later and we discovered that the Wasp Broadhead had shucked its blades on entry. These were the old style Wasps that used Injector style razor blades. He basically killed the deer with the "field point".
I have a hard time believing a mechanical won't open on a deer as it is designed to.
I've never had that problem with Jack Hammers or Spitfires.

I don't really like to change things up once I find something that works. All I've ever shot are the Allen chiz-l tip broad heads (muzzy design), they shoot well for me and I always get pass-throughs. I do shoot fairly light arrows, and I know most mechanicals can't offer the same penetration a sharp fixed blade.

I hate changing a variable that won't make me any better. Fixed blades for me please. I mess up enough. I don't need the broadhead helping me in that regard.
