Bet more will be unrecovered and wounded by bows and Xbow than hpr Id take that bet .... just because of the sheer number of hunters in gun vs archery. I think the number of high powered rifles being used will be comparable to the number of bow and Xbow users. Most people I talk to are still going to be using shotguns, pcr or muzzleloader.

Here in Switzerland it will be mixed. There are a lot of hunters that don't have a shot over 75 yards, so there is no big need to change to HPR. I'm that way except for my #1 location. There I will use my HPR, but other spots I will use my shotgun and finish up the slugs. My longest shot ever taken was 85 yards and the rifled slug dropped it on spot.

I will admit that when you originally said it my mind read "gun" and not "hpr" ..... but, I include any centerfire rifle in the hpr camp and dont break it down to pcr and non pcr. Id still take the bet ....

I have some longer shots at my Switz Co property, but that's why I've always used my muzzleloader. I will be using my .308 this year, given the chance. I've got 9 full days of prime pre-rut bowhunting days still to get through.

I'm taking off most of the Nov. 7th week. Bow then opening gun weekend. PS: with so many trees down, I might have longer shots, so it might be 100% of my .308.

Very few, maybe none, have went out and bought a new hpr that I can think of. I am always expanding and improving my hunting choices each year. I have moved with the times from shotgun to mz, handgun with hpr rounds, smokeless mz's, xbow, pcr, hpr. Kinda try to buy one new item yearly as a present to myself. Now buying for my kid, so my upgrades will be winding down. I have enough to get by with for my lifetime now. Lol

Just slightly behind last year round same time...fully attribute that to some warm spells and abundant acorn crops...still think we will see near same harvest if not more.

Depending (as always) on firearm opening weekend weather. If the weather is nice the season starting early will catch prime time rut.

Yup, it has always astonished me how many deer die that weekend...seriously just think about it, truly is amazing.

I think the telecheck got overloaded last year on the opening day and a certain group went nuts saying it was rigged.. A bluebird versus nasty weather opening weekend can make a difference

Look for a big bump this coming weekend through next week. Ideal conditions and chase phase in full swing. I added another to the tally tonight as well.
