Good luck to all getting out this weekend. We're loaded up and ready, watching an old Primetime Bucks video to hold us over til daylight. We'll be on public ground in the morning with the .357. Made a last minute decision to load the Jon boat up and boat into a spot I've never deer hunted but seen plenty of sign while squirrel hunting in years past. No stand in the area so made up a make shift ground blind from dowel rods and camo netting this evening lol. The evening will find us in a double ladder set on the bean field by our house with bow in hand. Camera is showing some positive things down there and the wind should be good.

Good luck, wear that life jacket and harness, enjoy the time in nature with you youngin. Thank you. Had to spend a small fortune on a new HSS ladies vest today. I forgot she'd about outgrown the youth vest last year and no chance of fitting in it this year. Hope the new one will last her a while.

Anyone going out today is more dedicated than me. It's supposed to be 93 and humid here today. I'm going to spend the weekend wrapping up some home improvement projects so that I can hit the woods when the weather is more reasonable.

Hunting with my son on our own land for the very first time since we bought it = priceless. Seeing or shooting anything is just icing on the cake.

67 here, cool north breeze, and a light fog. Seems like a pretty good day to be in the woods.

Dead to swirly wind here. Had small doe come in behind us in brush, but smelled us I think. No shot opportunity.

Update on our hunt. Piebald buck down. My son killed his very first deer on our own property. Man I'm on cloud one hundred right now. I'll post the story later, but now have to get us cleaned up as he has to sing at an event in an hour for school.

This has got to be the hottest youth weekend ever. I went out on some of my lease ground this morning to cut some shooting lanes and to check some stands. I got one stand site cut and gave up on the other things I had plans doing do to the heat and skeeters.
I can remember a long time ago when I was a kid, archery always opened up the second Sat in October (no youth season back then). One year on the opening morning of archery season,(2nd Sat in October) as I was going to my stand I crossed a creek that had frozen enough to hold me. Don't see that happening anytime soon.
