With the warm weather for this youth season thinking of getting a Thermacell, do they really work and if so, how much odor does it produce? Do deer become alarmed if they smell it?

I would highly recommend forgot mine yesterday got torn up by those darn mosquitos. There is a scent but the deer don't seem to notice it at all. Smoke trail goes up. I hunt elevated never tried off the ground so dk if that would be different. But they work extremely well. Make sure you get extra pads and cartridges they burn out after each hunt. I was in my stand one day had it on didn't have a bug I could even hear flying. The thermacell was at my feet I stood up to stretch and about 3 feet over my head there was like a barrier/wall of mosquitos they were all above me but Would not come closer. Am amazed how they work.

They work great. The odor isn't to bad at all. I've killed deer while using them. I figure a small amount of odor is better than me swatting mosquitoes off my face every 10 seconds. I think that movement would scare away deer more than the smell.

If there is a wind, maybe not as well, but I use mine during ANY outdoor activity where the skeeters are bad. I don't worry about the smell. If the deer can smell it, the deer can smell you so you are busted anyway.

They work because they use stuff from chrysanthemums. I haven't seen too many deer panic over flowers.

Just bought my refill kit this morning. I'm ready for the early season.
