 For the last few years, I've used All Free & Clear to wash my camo, and have had no negative effects while hunting. I started using it when I got tired of spending a fortune on little bottles of soap marketed to hunters. Then I discovered recently that while the All was scent-free, it does contain UV brighteners. Although I never had any problems with it, the search was on again. Today I spotted ECOS Free & Clear on the shelf at Wal-Mart and called the company from right in the aisle. No dyes, no scent, and no UV brighteners. And best of all, only $9 for 128 loads! EDIT: I have no idea why the photo is sideways. Oh well, you get the point. Lol! |

My wife finally just uses the free and clear for all our clothes now and I also use the Arm and Hammer unscented deodorant. It is the same stuff and is cheaper than the so called hunting detergents and deodorant.

I use the All just as you did, but didn't pay any attention to the UV brighteners. May have to make a change now

I use the All just as you did, but didn't pay any attention to the UV brighteners. Yeah, on a whim I called them a few weeks ago, and they said that All Free & Clear does contain optical brighteners. But, as I said earlier, it never seemed to negatively affect my hunts. Obviously deer could not smell the detergent, and none acted like they saw a blue blob in a tree. UV comes into play in very low light, and especially in total darkness. It may not be that critical during actual legal hunting hours. But, if I can get scent-free detergent without brighteners for a comparable price, I might as well do so. Four times the size of Dead Down Wind's 32-ounce bottle at Wal-Mart, and almost a dollar cheaper. |

I use the cheapest car was soap on the shelf. Take the cap off and smell it first.
There wouldn't be much use to put UV brighteners in car soap and it never smells like anything but soap.

Great find! I like the arm and hammer deodorant idea as well, I need to get some of that. I sure love savings!

Wash only when I get them bloody, mine have been hanging on the clothes line for about one month now, will take them down tomorrow and put in a plastic tub with charcoal. Been rained on a bunch so they should be clean. Been doing this for years and deer dont seem to mind, usually have deer all around me and never spook them unless I'm moving around in my climber. Not saying its better than washing but works for me.

I use the All unscented but I turn all the clothes inside out first. This helps keep the color & camo pattern longer. I don't get my camo very dirty.

I just use regular detergent. I imagine mine are washed with whatever my wife uses. I am lucky in that she doesnt let me around such machinery. Screw up one load of her clothes...never do laundry again😂 |

You guys might want to try this product.It's about one of the oldest soaps on the market. I've used it for years. I usally catch mine on clearance at the end of hunting season it's about the only one left on the shelf (Not that it doesn't work, every one buys up all the super hyped up soaps ) www.eders.com/images/P/p_188167.jpg |

Most camo rarely if ever gets washed, only the lightweight pants and camo tee shirts that get sweaty when worn during early archery season. If they do hit the washing machine, they get washed with whatever jeans and other clothes get washed with. Outer layers never get was unless I had some type of mud or blood disaster. During season I make a habit of hanging my stuff outdoors to dry out and air out, and that's about the only special care I take.
The only thing being fooled by special "hunting" clothing washes, shampoos, soaps, scent spray products, etc. are the hunters that are buying them. Save your money and pay attention to wind direction.

Inner layers and socks get washed (along with transportation clothes) in the wash machine with any scent free dye free detergent the wife uses. I've convinced her over the year to go to these rather than the scented year round because there is ZERO point to washing clothes in 1 load with scent free detergent if the 100 prior used scented one.
My outer layers and camo get washed by hand in a activated carbon bath in a tote at the beginning of the year, air dried and packed back into air tight totes or my Scentmaster Box (which I LOVE!). Only times they'll get washed again is if I get bloody, or extremely sweaty or come in contact with a smell not normal to the woods.

I find the lowest cost non scent/non UV detergent I can find. One bottle last me years so the brand changes. I wash my hunting cloths after season and pack them in a bin lined with cedar wood. My cloths pick up the cedar scent and it seems to work for me. If I do get sweaty or bloody I will re-wash during season. My #1 stand is a hang-on stand in a very large red oak tree, but growing against the tree is a cedar. My stand is attached to the oak, but is surrounded by cedar. It is much hidden from the ground. My #2 stand is a hang-on in a cedar tree. The woods I hunt has cedar fields and a lot of them throughout the woods. When I use my climber I try to find a tree that has a cedar or thick cover around it. So my strategy is to blend in and disappear.

I use Secret deodorant. Unsented. "Strong enough for a man , made for a woman."
Best stuff on the market and I'm man enough to admit it.
