Usually drag it. Last year I started taking my cart and leaving it in the bed of my truck all season. My buck last year fell in a good spot I could drive right up to.

I've dragged a few, and toted a few more out with a wheeled deer cart, but I think it's come time to do it smarter. I recently replaced my aging 14.5 hp Murray riding mower with a John Deere X300, so I'm retiring the Murray to light hauling. Once the mowing deck is removed I can hitch up my dumpable garden cart to it and drive to the carcass. From there it's just loading the deer into the cart that I have to work out. I figure that if I tilt the bed next to it I can lift the deer's head and tie it to the tongue of the trailer, then just tilt the bed back and lock it for towing. If that fails I can just roll the deer onto an old plastic toboggan sled I have and skid it out. Once I get it to the garage with either one I winch the carcass up to dressing height, and use the cart/sled to catch the drippings and guts.

Kubota L3940 w/FEL. Thus far, all deer have been dropped within 100' of a trail for easy loading, Most within 30' of a trail.

Kubota bx25d, use the backhoe to hoist and skin, small enough to get into some parts of the woods.

Last two years it was very easy. Year one shot a buck, got the MF 4608 and put him in the front loader. Chained him to the front loader, gutted him and dropped him my truck bed. Off to the processor. Year two this one ran a few yards. Got the Bush Hog TH440 and the Eagle Claw Jet Sled. Loaded him up and did the same as the year before. Almost feel guilty it is so easy. Ummm not really
