I usually buy mine on sale, like the moultries but that's just cause I'm used to their setup. In my opinion now a days companies have about the same quality and build them to last a few years.

I have a couple of Wildgame institute cameras. Its a big trade-off because they are so cheap to buy but I haven't had the best of luck with keeping them going. Both of them had to be replaced within the first year. One the selection screen cracked and the other the camera had something happen where it wouldnt take ir pictures and the daytime photos were grainy. If you have the receipt and its within one year they replace them for free but if you don't have the receipt then good luck... I'm going through it now where they will replace the camera but it's a terrible time for it to go out. Heading into hunting season and I will be without a camera for a month or so.

I had a primos. The day pictures were OK but the night pictures were blurry. I use a Moultrie now and I have no complaints. I leave it out all year and go through maybe 3-4 sets of AA batteries. During busy times I get over 1000 pictures every week or two. If I was going to buy a new one today, it would be another Moultrie.

I've had good luck with my moultrie. Don't know the model off the top of my head, but I like it.

Cuddeback, there's no such thing as a good cheap trailcam.

Cuddeback, there's no such thing as a good cheap trailcam. I beg to differ. I have three 2009 model Scoutgard SG550 cameras that didn't break the bank that are still taking good pictures. 6 years and still doing a pretty good job and didn't cost an arm or leg. I got a Moultrie M880 that is 4 years old still working fine that I bought as a refurbished camera for 69 bucks. I have had a couple Bushnell cameras that I paid over 200 bucks for that I had problems with right out of the box. Sent them back three times before I got two that work OK, but night time picts are very blurry. I have a Wildgame that was on sale at Rural King for 54 bucks that is 4 years old still working fine ,but is getting hard on batteries.. It seems that I have had better luck with the cheapo cameras than the more expensive ones. I have a Spypoint camera that I can't remember the cost, it was over well 200 bucks I'm thinking that I sent back several times, it's my least favorite camera I have now and only works in the still mode, video stopped working. I have had good luck with my Coverts that were not to expensive. You don't have to have a 600.00$ camera to get the job done. The only good Cuddeback I had was an older one when they first went digital that worked good but finally quit. The new ones I tried were the worst cameras I have used. I took them back for a refund and their customer service really sucked.

I have three 2009 model Scoutgard SG550 cameras that didn't break the bank that are still taking good pictures. Scoutguard has some great cameras. My first 550 lasted 5 years and when I had an issue with it taking blurry night pictures they had me send it in. Sent me a new one for free. I picked a new one up off ebay this spring for $75 with free shipping.
