I just seen an article in Bowhunting World magazine and they had their top 10 States to hunt whitetail deer and Indiana was not in the top 10.

So is this good or bad news?

I would say it is good news, we don't need a bunch of out of staters that think there is a deer or a monster buck behind every tree because that is not the case. Now I know there are some good "Managed" properties in indiana that people pay big money to shoot a good deer but as a whole Indiana is not that good of a deer state.

If the article we all saw circulating a while back...same author had us pegged as top 5 just a year ago....all depends on how it is defined and how the author's coffee tasted at the moment.

Nevermind not the specific article I was thinking about...still same thoughts. I surely feel depending on your specific property, steps you specifically take and to some extent the overall area's harvest traditions Indiana has plenty of awesome corn fed monsters.

That's really, really good to hear, but I never did have much faith in articles such as these. I know and see what I have available to hunt where I'm at in our state and completely happy with what's out there. Don't we have the No. 2 non typical hunter killed white tail deer on planet earth from our terrible, poorly managed deer hunting state. And wasn't it not to many years ago that there was a typical that was pushing the world record from IN that some cash and a new 4 wheeler caused to vanished from the headlines "Keep that under your hat. Don't want my lease fees to go up".

It's just one author's opinion, which I could care less about. Another one could write an article and replace half of the states with different ones and people would suddenly think that's the gospel.

Ive known there were no deer in Indiana for awhile. But I thought It was because I've only hunted Fountain and Parke which lack deer and especially trophy class deer.

GREAT news. Less wealthy out of staters buying up land, influencing policy, driving up land prices, etc.

GREAT news. Less wealthy out of staters buying up land, influencing policy, driving up land prices, etc. As long as tags for non-residents are cheap and plentiful, I don't see companies and individuals giving up on buying or leasing ground in this state.

Indeed, but the less press the better. I'm guessing that Illinois, for example, has a lot more competition for land than it would were it not constantly talked about as a "trophy" state.

That's true (as far as being known as a trophy state), but firearms tags are limited and done by lottery (if I'm not mistaken) for non-residents. Indiana tags are over the counter and cheap as h*ll....
