Me and the Mrs. just got back,we both saw 1 of in the distance but we neither 1 could find it again when we got closer, guess that's why they call it "hunting" and not "shooting"

Please add 7 more squirrels to Team 6 (Team Squirrel Squad). 2 were harvested the afternoon of August 21 with a Winchester M69A with Weaver J4 scope and CCI standard velocity ammo. 5 were harvested the morning of August 22 with a 20 gauge Remington M870 with modified choke tube and reloads with 1 ounce of #5 shot. Love to hunt grays in the shagbark hickories early in the mornings, early in the season. Job well done! Does your back hurt? Seems your carrying the rest of us.

Naw, my back doesn't hurt at all. However, I am nursing a few dozen chigger bites!! I need to use more bug repellent. These last several days (mornings) are chigger heaven in the tall grass and weeds covered with dew.

One more for team 5. This makes two for me. I took the grandson for his first hunt. I just put him in one of my stands, and went to the other end of the woods. About 30 minutes later, I heard a bang! I was so excited. I walked back to see what happened. He shot at one that he says was a perfectly clear shot, but no squirrel. He didn't see it drop, but we looked anyway. He said it was a little shocking when the gun fired. He'll get use to it. He got back in the stand, but I didn't hear another shot. He said he saw four more, but didn't think it was a good enough shot to take. I told him to blast away; it's not deer hunting. He's taken the hunter safety course, and I went over the key points with him. It was a lot of fun. We saw 10 doves on my food plot. Next week, we'll get some of them.

nfalls116, that squirrel carrier is basically an end off a fish stringer, attached to a dowel rod. The long stick is a combination of a shooting stick and a walking cane. It's handy to put the carrier on the shooting rest, instead of laying it down on the ground. Here's a closeup pic, although a little fuzzy.. maddog I'm not quite grasping it well. I think I am but in not sure, is it two pieces? The walking stick and the carrier are separate

Here's a couple different pics. As I said, it is a part of a metal fish stringer, attached to a short piece of dowel rod, for a handle. You run the holder thru a squirrel's foot to carry them. This is my combo walking stick/shooting rest. For my pics, I slip the wood handle over the end of the walking stick and can use it to hold the squirrels up for pictures. maddog

Add two to team critter gitters. It's been a tough start to the season for us so far.
