IMO a mistake if Trump picks him. Unfortunatly a person needs to play politics at least a little bit in order to win at politics. If I were him I would beg Condoleezza Rice to run with me. I would love for her to stand up and say "now tell me again how Donald is sexist and racist?"

Newt is much better choice..

Newt would be a much better choice than Pence but he still doesn't check as many boxes as Condi does.

I am not a Pence fan. He is a step back from Mitch IMO. I don't know what he brings to the ticket.

Nothing that I can think of. Trump wins Indiana with or without him.

Didn't Condi state she was never getting back into politics?

Didn't Condi state she was never getting back into politics? Yep... I don't believe she would ever come on as Trump's running mate. I think she would really like to be the NFL Commissioner..

I would like a military person to be in the mix. I think it is a better choice if possible.

I really don't think Trump will think about picking someone in a key state or to target a select group. He'll probably do it his way, which is whatever he thinks is best.
I did hear that Pence was a good pick for him, but personally, I can't see it. Of course, I'm certainly not smart enough to be a billionaire or President, so what do I know?
I can sure think of a person or two that would be good in my mind, but...

I'm with the rest of you, I don't see anything he brings to the table for Trump.

Good reasons for Trump to choose to run with Pence:
1. The Donald doesn't want to be shadowed by an out-sized ego. Pence blends into the wallpaper when in the room with Trump.
2. Pence is a signal to the Republican conservative base that one of their kindred spirits is held closely by Trump. Trump needs the base on Election Day.
3. Trump is imagining the VP role to revert back to the traditional job of attending funerals, fundraising, babysitting the Senate, etc. He doesn't want/need a 'Dick Cheney' type VP for for obvious reasons.
4. Pence can articulate the issue of the loss of our manufacturing base. He will campaign well in the industrial midwest and Pennsylvania.
5. Pence is ambitious enough to swallow his reservations about The Donald's more outrageous statements. In effect, he will be loyal.
6. The choice of Pence will make The Donald look 'reasonable' and more Republican. Congress will jump aboard the Trump Train because they see Pence as one of their own.

I don't believe Pence can deliver many votes.

Neither do I. Much of the country has likely never heard of him until the past 3 weeks. He is not hugely popular nor hugely unpopular here in Indiana .... He is insignificant in the rest of the country.
Plus ... he checks very, very few boxes that Trump needs.

I guess Trump figures Pence's experience as Governor and a member of Congress is good enough to help him navigate the ways of Washington.
And if it doesn't work out, Pence still has his pension(s) from being a member of Congress and Indiana Governor to look forward to....

Pence is kind of meh for me. I agree Trump should look at picking a black or Hispanic woman for VP just to shut the racist accusers up.
