AWESOME 6X5 MONSTER! Taken in late october, this dude is one of my favorites!During a mid-summer scouting trip I videoed this deer feeding in a soybean field with several other bucks.Even at that time he was noticably larger in body and antler size.Caught him in mid-october from a surveilence stand as he moved thru a distant funnel near a dry pond bed.The wind was out of the WNW but a front was bringin' rain and S winds.During the rain I put a stand in place where the buck moved thru the funnel. Now was the waiting game,I needed a WNW wind to hit within the next 10 days or the deer might not use this funnel once the rut kicked in. I got my wind change 4 days later and he showed up.This guy had me wore plum out before the shot,he made a scrape 60 yards out, then he TORE UP a cedar tree 40 yards out and took forever closing the final 20 yards before I took my shot. The 74 pound XI Legend slammed a 2314 Muzzy tipped Easton camo hunter thru both lungs and he gave it up after a 30 yard run! Just a great buck...4.5 year old,248# dressed,152" STUD! My only regret from this hunt is I did not get near enough pics, sorry about the poor photo.
