They're out and about.. My 8 year old stepped on a 6' black snake up at Fairfax SRA yesterday, it didn't even flinch. Then we had a 4' in our backyard last night.
If I had a use for the skin I might kill one, otherwise the non-venomous snakes get a pass from me.
