Yesterday morning a buddy took Owen out and they got one at around 830. I took Cooper and it was a little tougher hunt but he got his around 1030.
First light there weren't any turkeys close so we set up and tried calling with no luck. We were on our way out and heard a turkey down below us. We tried calling them but some deer came through and spooked them. We repositioned and got between two sets of gobblers. Two came in from our left and three or four from the right. Coop ended shooting one of the ones on the left. It was a great hunt and a perfect morning.

We got to our A spot at 5:10 AM. Set up by 5:30. Gobbling everywhere once they got started. When I started calling, got one on a "string". We kept talking as he got closer. Then he started moving north of our position and kept going. Suspect that a hen got him. Moved to a second position and got another one talking to us. He got closer and closer. We were expecting him to come out of the woods to a clearing where we had our decoys. Got so close that I heard my grandson turn off his safety. A hen came out of the woods at that very point, moved to where the tom was and game was over. Lots of hen competition at this point in the season. Still a great day on an awesome property.

Doc, were you on Missi if you don't mind saying? I was at sally today. Was just never really hearing any birds at mississinewa. Buddy said he never heard a single shot today...same for me at salamonie Doc, Same experience for me last Spring at Missi. I can't understand what has happened there and Sally. Real disappointing. Good luck for the rest of the season

Good luck for the rest of the season I agree, these 2 reservoirs have definitely gone downhill as far as hunting goes the past few years. I didn't get drawn to hunt again this spring and doesn't look like I'm going to make it down south this year (newborn at home) so my season looks to be over before it even begins....so much for my tag this year. Good luck to you!!
