Better buy that rifle soon!! If Hillary becomes president, and Garland becomes the next SCOTUS, guns of all types, could be hard to find and EXPENSIVE & ammunition the same!! I have never wanted an AR before, but the present situation with the presidential front-runners makes me want to go out and get one. Preferably pre-owned. I've never really cared about owning an AR-15 or even an AK-47 too. They are popular rifles though especially the AR-15. I already own an S.K.S. rifle which I restocked with a more "sporting" style laminated stock, replaced the 10-shot magazine with a 5-shot, replaced the rear sight with a Williams peep sight, and removed the hardware like the bayonet & lugs from the rifle. It actually shoots more accurately. Neighbor of mine, who lives about a couple miles down the road, has a fully automatic M-16 & AK-47, but he is in the Military and has the proper licenses/permits to own them.

Being in the military makes no difference for owning a full auto firearm. Just have to submit the paperwork and write the check.

Yep, I sold my Colt M16 last year after 12 years of ownership, and I'm just a lowly civilian. Here I am testing a very short upper that I'd built. A guy's always nervous pulling the trigger on something like that, but it sure beats tying a string to it and hiding behind a tree. Lol! youtu.be/gOONKNDY_iI

Just so everyone knows (for historical reference), the inventor of the AR-15 was a Hoosier. Eugene Stoner, Gosport, Indiana (Owen County): I had no clue that Stoner was from Indiana! Just another reason to go out and get one now. Keep piling on the reasons guys!!

Having owned one, I can attest that the excitement wears off pretty quickly. I enjoyed letting others shoot it, and bet I only personally fired maybe 10 mags through it in all that time. I even let a friend's grade school age son shoot it. It spent most of its life just sitting unused in my safe, until I decided that I'd enjoy a '69 Mustang more. Lol!

There are no exceptions... .

HPR POLL by request of a member...Now that the HPR bill has Passed both houses and awaits the Governor's (formality)signature the question now is - Will you use a newly recognized HPR this coming deer season? NO YES UNDECIDED COMMENTS? I haven't seen where you have answered your own question, I know you didn't think this should have been a bill to begin with so I'm guessing I know what your answer is.

Budd, I'm non-committall on HPRs. I really don't care one way or another. I do not like the legislature setting any hunting rules so I was against this bill/act/law. I would have much preferred that any game regulations go through the long standing DNR and NRC Administrative Rules Process. I did vote in this poll and said I wouldn't be using a new HPR. I'll still hunt with my Ruger .44 Mag Carbine.

My fiance wants her own guns, guess we'll be gun shopping for her sometime in the near future. Better buy that rifle soon!! If Hillary becomes president, and Garland becomes the next SCOTUS, guns of all types, could be hard to find and EXPENSIVE & ammunition the same!! Yeah know, she's mainly wanting a carry gun but she wants to wait until after the wedding in May and get her drivers license first too.

Switched around the barrel on my Savage 111 so it's back to 30-06 and got it sighted back in ~3/4" high at 50yds. with ball. Next step is to work up a load for it. I have 150 & 180gr SST's ad 165gr GameKings. It didn't like the 150gr SST's before so think I'll give the 165's a try with some 3031.

I bought a 100-round box of 165-grain SST's that my buddy is going to help me load for my .308 using Varget powder. 1/10 twist.
