Probing the "hive mind" here again. In the market for a new minivan...was looking at both the Sienna and the Odyssey. both candidates are 2008 models. 100,000 + miles. Thoughts? Opinions? experience with either one? Thanks.

Maintenance records the same on both? Previous owners take care of both equally? 100K city miles are way worse than 100K highway miles.
Both vehicles from the same area of the country originally? Thinking rust belt Midwest vs. Az./Tx.
Dad is still driving a 1997 GMC Suburban (6.5 diesel) with a hair over 300K on the clock. Always garaged and maintenance has been done religiously either before or on schedule. It doesn't look it's age/mileage.

My question is in the "all else being equal " category. Just wondered if anybody had any insights into either van.

I've heard good about the odysseys and the only experience I've had with a toyata sienna was with an electrical gremlin. That being said I've seen a few of the odysseys for sale with relatively low mileage and bad transmissions. Or "it only slips a little going through gears but it's still driveable"... But I'm sure catching them around 100k and doing a fluid and filter on the tranny will probably buy some time
In short I believe either will be a good choice as compared to a Ford GM or chrysler

My sister has a honda and a decect caused rain to slowly seep into a very tight tailgate creating a reservoir that ended up messing with electrical and structural components. Probably a one off event but caused them problems that they shouldnt have been dealing with. Other than that I think they ar happy.

Both my sisters have odysses. One has had more issues than the other. Both had side door problems. I think the auto close motors went out. One had damper fall off engine and starter went out. No engine or powertrain problems yet that i know of. Both were purchased used.
