That looks like a case that is made like the Activ Cases were made. Kent Cartridge bought the Activ mfg facility and all the tooling.

I have a Browning Gold 20 gauge semi-auto shotgun which I also have a rifled barrel. However, since moving here to Kentucky, the rifled barrel remains in my closet. Ballistics on their new 20 gauge load looks good, but I bet the recoil is rather stiff.

A bore sized bullet instead of a smaller bullet inside a plastic sabot.
I think it's an interesting idea.

Neat ! Always wanted one of those TarHunt slug guns, but could never work up the nerve to blow that much $$ on one.

Sabots make more sense than full-bore projectiles with very large bores, such as with a 12 Ga. A bullet with good ballistic shape must weigh a LOT at that diameter. Going to 20 Ga., full bore ammo starts to make more sense. Continuing on the trend makes even more sense.
Sign me up when they manufacture a 55ish guage "shotgun". This would not need to be a new gun, but essentially any .458 caliber rifle with "55 Gauge" stamped on it instead of a traditional CF cartridge designation. Lots of good .458 projectiles out there. Should be able to match or exceed 45/70 or 450 Marlin.
My Marlin 512 Slugmaster is a legal "shotgun" but is a rifled bore fixed to a bolt action. No reason this concept would not be "Indiana legal". Take a bolt gun made in .458 Winchester, engrave 55 Ga Slug Special on the barrel instead of 458 Win and call it good. Could even use standard 458 Win ammo, as the restriction is on the gun and not the ammo (as long as it is a single "slug" projectile). All brass shotshell cases have been around for ever.
Oops, I see that IDNR has limited "shotguns" to standard Gauges, but .410 is legal. Someone would only need to manufacture a good bolt gun in this caliber with fully rifled barrel that would take 3" shells, and also make .410 ammo based on this "shrifle" concept. It would certainly be interesting.

Regarding using a .410 bore shotgun shell: Been there, done that (well, sort of & on a very limited budget) with a single-shot action. I later found out that someone else had independently been doing it for several years on a commercial basis. Too late to go into it tonight. And, I do not want to hijack this thread.
