Much better, as long as i can get accuracy out of the rifled barrel, i know the 870 works.

Last night i put some lapping compound between the barrel break and hammer, and rexiever and hammer. Ran the hammer about 800 times, then i took it all apart and ran 1000, 1,500, and 2000 grit sandpaper on the hammer contact surfaces.
Im hoping, this will get the gun running at least 95%.
If it does work, then i need to look further into whether or not i can swap barrels on this thing. Id like to put an 18" smoothbore barrel on it and shove it behind the truck seat. Or i can just sell it.
Its an exact knock off of the H&R single shots, presuming braztech/rossi didnt machine out of spec.

Did you get the Rossi going or are you going to dump it? Still piecing it back together. Hopefully ill know tomorrow One thing you might check on single shots like this is how deep the rim on the barrel was cut. H&R had problems a few years back with guns not firing because they cut some of the rims just a touch deep and the firing pin couldn't reach. On top of that...you might check the rim thickness on the shells. Some shotgun shells are thicker than others and the thinner ones can drop just far enough into the barrel rim to cause the problem you are describing. OR.....it can be a combination of both situations I've described.

Its had the same problem with everything from universal to AA in no particular pattern, so i know its not the shells.
My money is on rossi being ranked just above jennings in the terrible guns department.
Either way, im stepping away from reassembly for a few days, its a pain to get the hammer back in with the firing pin and the transfer bar there. Ive been pretty crafty today, even using cut down drywall anchors as slave pins, but i cant figure this one out.
If youve ever wanted to take apart a single shot shotgun.......punch yourself in the face and forget about it. Worst. Idea.Eveeeeer

When my single shot started messing up with fail to fire my grandpa told me to go replace the firing pin with a trim nail

Well i traded my LCP for an ultra slug. I was never short on deer legal guns, but now I have to decide which one to use.
