I was on Facebook and seen where someone made a buck mount using re-bar and forming it out and welding it up. Once I seen it I knew it would not be long until I fired up the torch and mig welder. This thing weighs about 30lbs. It has a 24" inside spread, with around 30" long main beams. It took me about 5 hours to complete it including making the mounting board out of some left over trim from my house when I remodeled it 20 years ago. It turned out pretty good, but with some practice I think I could do better. I was very close to giving it some freakish drop tines, but decided against it.

That's pretty cool. I don't know whether it'd be worth it to you, but I could see people wanting to buy one of those. Would look really good in a garage.

Excellent job! I saw it and considered trying it too.
What do you think you would have to get out of one if you were to sell it?

Excellent job! I saw it and considered trying it too. What do you think you would have to get out of one if you were to sell it? I pretty well have an endless supply of re-bar, 5 hours of labor putting it all together., Since I don't have a forge I had to use my oxy-acetylene torch to heat the bars up and bend into shape. Doing that was the hardest and most expensive part in the process. Acetylene and a tank of oxygen is outrageous now days. As far as the welding I did, it didn't take a lot, but you have to figure in gas and wire for the welder. I used a spray can of stainless steel colored paint painting it. Gave it a coating of clear coat. What would I have to charge for making one??? I don't know, but probably more than what most would be willing to shuck out for one. I just hope my wife likes it for a Christmas present instead of the diamond ear rings I was going to get her. LOL

That looks great. Just think what it'd look like with a light coating of rust to turn it brown.....

That looks great. Just think what it'd look like with a light coating of rust to turn it brown..... The re-bar had a light coating of rust , but heating it up bending and welding discolored it and made it look bad. Probably could let it set out in he weather for a couple months and the rust look would make it look pretty cool.

Put that on a steel backing plate and that would look great outside over the garage or barn door!
