So over the last couple of years a lake I own has been having a little issue with Beavers. Personally I don't really care if there are a couple of them, however when I went out and checked on it the other day to my surprise there was not a tree left standing within 70 feet or so from the waters edge. So with that being said something had to be done. Called up a buddy and got my dad out there with me and needless to say with my mini 14, the 22 my dad had and my buddies SKS we thinned them out a little bit.
Killed 2 of them definitely and with a high probability of a third one. Hopefully this will send a message to any remaining beavers that I don't appreciate them coming in and chewing down all my trees. Does anyone else have issues with them if so just curious your ways of dealing with them. Thanks all and god bless.

Soon as all the groceries are gone they leave and leave a lot or new habitats behind

Generally when you have a beaver lodge you have 2 beavers. Their damage makes it look as though there is an army of them.

The #4 foot holds are effective as well.

I didn't quite think of it that way, good point. However I still have plenty of ammo just waiting on them.

Hate them things....I've got cottonwood trees that are 4' in diameter completely girdled around the base from them. What the heck are they gonna do with a 2 ton tree if they manage to drop it??
Masterful builders though....

Save their tails. They make nice looking knife sheaths. The skulls look good cleaned up and whitened.

Any other water sources around that are close? Not real close, white river to the south around 1/4 mile and then another lake to the north about 1/2 mile. Other than that just some low lying land along the river. I have found out that a 1lb charge of tannerite will take their nice little lodge and let in some natural lighting to make it look bigger inside. At least that is what I have seen, love that stuff.

If you are looking for a non-lethal method to ridding yourself of beavers try this it has worked for me on several occasions.
Take down part of their dam and get the water flowing then in the evening take one of those small "T" lights that resemble a flame and place it in a sealed glass jar. You can buy these at a dollar store. Take the jar and place it on the dam, if it's a large dam use 2 jars. The light will discourage the beavers and after a couple days they will move on.

Hmm Interesting, I might try that if they start to become a little more elusive.

I have a Colony that's moved into a deep hollow that I deer hunt. Wasn't to worried about them when they stayed on the north end. They built a nice little wood duck pond. They were minding there own business and I was doing the same. But now they have came south down the creek several hundred yards and dammed up the creek. It's now over flowing and my trip pod stand is almost in water. Might be in water now. So war has been declared. Beavers vs the USS 330

Why do so many people hate beaver? They have been responsible for creating some of the best wildlife habitat around.

They are pretty tasty to eat. glad someone thinks so... I'm not a big fan of it yet but I've only had it twice both times it reminded me of liver which I don't care for Maybe I need to kill one and cook it myself
