I did some scouting yesterday morning on 2 separate farms. Both have ridges. On one farm I located rub activity on the top of the ridge near its point. The edges of the ridge bottoms where it slopes down to the meadow are pretty thick with brush and briers but towards to the top it opens up pretty good however, there are still several small diameter trees that would make it difficult to get shots. My question is, would it be wise to clear the ridge top of the smaller trees making it a little more spacious with the hopes of it becoming a staging area or should I leave it alone? The other farm is a hot mess! LOL! It has been logged and they left it a mess. Trees, tree tops, and brush piles are all over the place making it difficult to traverse.

You know I don't have a clue, but I'd sure make me some shooting lanes.

There are shooting lanes but they are very narrow. I am guessing that I will just have to put a camera up and see what's going on.

I found 2 good trails on it. I'm setting my camera where they intersect and hope to get good pics

The faintest one will be thee trail. The bucks I've found travel these side trails and any doe going up or down they can smell

Ridges are one of the best places to be when the bucks are up looking for does.

The one that doesn't show heavy use Some trails can be spotted from a great distance that's not the one you want the one you want will be close but obviously a lesser used trail

Typically the trail off to the side of the main one is what they call a "buck trail", that one is the one you want to hunt on being that the bucks travel that one and normally don't the heavy trails. But of course each setup is different.
