local.nixle.com/alert/5538765/So much fail here that all I can do is shake my head. The biggest question is why were 11 hunters crammed into that small area?

Just another reason why I am not a fan of moving deer shots...or drives...or people hunting that have no safety mindset with a weapon. Prayers for his recovery...gonna be a long one, don't wish that on anyone.

Look at Ohio. Guys I work with do drives everyday of the 7 day gun season. It doesn't matter where, public or private.

I don't think the season duration has anything to do with when and if people use driving deer as their method of hunting. We hunt Illinois which has a three day, then a four day firearms season, and I've never seen driving taking place anywhere in IL that I've hunted.
It's more of a regional family or hunting group traditional method. I've heard is is very common with the Amish in northern part of the state, as many of them are all about filling freezers. That's why I posed the question earlier.
When I was younger, we tried just about everything including deer drives. Never killed anything on those drives, just moved a lot of deer and pushed them off of the places we had permission to the neighbors. Only type of driving I've ever had success at is a quiet little one man push.

I'm going to keep my opinion to myself! Try it! But good job turning a story about a tragedy into another debate about your knowledge.

Driving deer and wild boar is very common in europe, in problem areas it sometimes happens in the uk. I have done it down south on three occasions, but the guns are up high seats shooting into the ground.
i have never been driven boar shooting in europe but i know a lot that have and i have never heard anyone come back and say it was unsafe if on does what one is told. Now you are getting a hint at why i am asking about slugs not stopping deer, lol Do i use a slug shotgun or the 308 when i go to try it, that is the question. regards Billy

I participated in numerous drives when I was younger, but not anymore. I can buy food if I get that desperate.
