I just got access to hunt a farm that no one is supposed to be hunting. Lack of time has limited my scouting to aerial photos and one evening hunt. 1/2 way thru walk in found a vehicle in the middle of a bean field. Had to resort to lesser stand sight. Once daylight broke I notice about a 10-20 foot buffer of uncut soybeans around a 200ydx500yd field. The corners had a lot more beans standing. Why did the farmer do this? The fields are fairly high so I wouldn't think mud or field conditions would affect it. I don't hunt ag fields much at all. Mind you, I'm not complaining but the beans don't appear to have much activity. The pods are full of beans. Why aren't the deer eating them?

Are the beans along a tree line or the woods. We sometimes have to leave them because they are not ready along tree lines when the rest of the field is ready to cut.

Yes along the trees bordering most of the field.

The planter may also stick out farther than the bean head. Usually more of a problem with corn though.

Those beans will be gold if we get deep snow and cold

We keep a strip of uncut beans every year for the late season. As freedomhunter already said, they are gold during the late season.

Thanks for the replies. I plan on hunting there as much as posible. I didn't get to ralk to the trespasser. I got to farm by 545,parked and dressed by 6. Only to find his car, not him. I set up where I could see his car expecting him to leave at 1030 or 11. Well he came out at 9. I was in a climber so getting down and to him was not realistic. He did see me tho and backed his car out of the field for a quarter mile(I guess so I couldn't see his plates) but I already had them. Turned it over to the landowner.
